All infrastructure projects belong to the Greek people, says minister Christos Spirtzis

“No infrastructure project belongs to any government, nor to any minister, regional governor or mayor. All infrastructure projects belong to those that pay for them, namely the Greek people,” Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis said on Friday at an international conference of the European Journalists Union held in Agrinio.

Spirtzis also stressed: “It is a fact that nothing will proceed unless we have a holistic transport and infrastructure plan that is binding for all politicians and does not serve specific interests. Therefore, Greece will have a specific transport and infrastructure plan by the end of the year that will be binding for the next 20 years. This is not a field of political controversy. This is a national plan that we should have and for many years did not.”

“I believe that we have to change, but we cannot change our country if we do not change Europe first. Europe needs to get past the extreme neoliberal policies that brought us all here so that Europe once again becomes and remains democratic, creating a barrier for the far right. We must finally succeed in making the banking system, politicians and media three entirely separate poles in both Europe and the country,” Spirtzis concluded.
