The Hellenic Police (ELAS) issued a statement regarding the report of a burglary made on Friday at the Acropolis Police Department concerning premises housing the Election Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior.

As emphasized by ELAS, the preliminary investigation is being conducted with the assistance of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate.

According to the Ministry of Interior the intruders gained access to the office by breaking the lock. Although nothing has been reported stolen, there are worries about potential tampering with the computers, which hold sensitive state documents and data.
