The leader of the Socialist and Democrats Group in the European Parliament (S&D) Udo Bullman will be a keynote speaker at an event on the future of Europe, organised by the S&D Group and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Athens.
“Tsipras represents the past. He cannot speak about the optimistic future of Greece,” main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Friday following Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ speech on the island of Syros.
The Greek government must continue implementing a responsible economic policy after the country’s exit from the memorandum, the Parliament’s State Budget Office said in a report released on Wednesday.
Conditions in the shipyards “will worsen as long as the shipping industry sector continues to be in the centre of the extreme controversy and competition between the governments and major monopoly interests,” said Communist Party (KKE) Secretary General Dimitris Koutsoumbas, who visited Elefsina shipyards on Wednesday.

There will be no new commitments and terms for Greece after the memorandum, said Valdis Drombrovskis, European Commission Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue, on Friday, adding that the country was returning to normality and the “European Semester” with the submission of reports to the European Commission on fiscal data.
There will be no new memorandum after Greece’s exit from the programme, the chief of European Stability Mechanism (ESM) Klaus Regling clearly stated on Friday, underlining that while surveillance will be stricter there will be no new conditions.
