International recognition of Greek tourism and newly founded ISTO for P&P




Former Deputy Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation of the United Nations (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai and Ambassador Dho Young-shim, former president of the UNWTO’s Foundation for Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication, stressed the importance of the establishment of the new International Sports and Tourism Organisation for Peace and Prosperity (ISTO for P&P – International Sports and Tourism Organisation for Peace and Prosperity) in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Wednesday. Moreover, they both praised the work and actions of Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura.

  • Dr. Taleb Rifai said that “three years ago everyone was betting that Greece would collapse, but Greece did not collapse. Tourism in Greece has not collapsed.”
  • Ambassador Dho Young-shim noted that “this initiative of Greece for the establishment of the International Sports and Tourism Organisation for Peace and Prosperity will bring a series of important events, conferences and meetings that will attract many people from around the world to visit Greece.”

They both stressed the significant contribution that the new international organisation will make to attracting investments and creating new jobs. Finally, Dr. Rifai stressed that “Kountoura is an example of a minister who helped the Greek people and the country in difficult times.”
