“We are working intensively with a detailed plan to lay strong foundations for the future of Greek tourism, to create today the conditions for a new cycle of growth with a vision and goal of sustainability as well as the strengthening of social cohesion,” Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said at the 5th conference “Greek Tourism, a National Case”.

Focusing on the New National Strategy for Tourism, she explained that this includes policies that strengthen the sustainable development of destinations, and promote innovation, and diversification.

She also focused on the great opportunity presented for Greek tourism, specifically from the resources of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, in the context of which, the competent ministry has planned infrastructure projects, such as the upgrading of tourist ports, mountain tourism facilities, and actions that strengthen alternative forms of tourism.

After highlighting the government’s efforts to create an investment-friendly environment, she pointed out that the tourism sector has been consistently a protagonist in attracting new investments in the last few years. Meanwhile, she added that there is now a strong interest for investments beyond the hospitality industry, but also in tourism infrastructure in general.

In any case, the goal of the Ministry of Tourism is to establish Greece as a top tourist destination that will stand out for the high quality of its services and the authentic experiences it offers.
