Responding to a front-page article in the newspaper “Dimokratia” on Wednesday, main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis pledged to abolish MP immunity from prosecution and other privileges if SYRIZA-PA is elected to power, in a post on social media.

“If the Greek people honour us with their vote, the first thing I will do is abolish all MP immunities – all parliamentary privileges. The Parliament will not breed another Kostas Achilleas Karamanlis,” Kasselakis said.

The article claimed that former transport minister Kostas Karamanlis had received a confidential letter warning him of the risk of a rail accident before the Tempi train disaster.
