FM Gerapetritis meets with UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy on Cyprus

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met earlier on Tuesday with the Personal Envoy of UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Cyprus, María Angela Holguín Cuéllar, in the context of the first round of meetings aiming to restart the talks for a solution of the Cyprus issue.

According to a foreign ministry announcement, Gerapetritis noted that Greece strongly supports the effort for restarting deliberations for a solution on the basis of a bizonal, bicommunal federation and in the framework created by UN Security Council Resolutions, adding that it is essential to do everything possible to attain a just and sustainable soluton based on international law and European values.

Gerapetritis sent the message that a solution of the Cyprus issue within this framework will create conditions of stability, peace and economic growth in the entire Eastern Mediterranean.
