New Democracy requests that former ministers testify to Institutions and Transparency Committee

Following the parliamentary groups’ requests to convene the Institutions and Transparency Committee on the tragic Tempi train crash, it was decided that the meeting will be held at 11:00 on March 20.

Parliament President Konstantinos Tasoulas, talking to reporters, said that the meeting of the Institutions and Transparency Committee is obviously one of those that he expects will be held within the framework of the parliament’s work.

The president of the Parliament pointed out that, obviously, the meeting of the Production and Trade Committee on Wednesday, where MPs will be briefed by Minister of State Giorgos Gerpatritis, and the meeting of the Institutions and Transparency Committee next Monday, are the start of a round of relevant discussions and do not wrap up the relevant parliamentary investigation.

Ruling New Democracy (ND) party lawmakers requested on Tuesday that former transport ministers Michalis Chrysochoidis, Christos Spirtzis, Kostas Karamanlis and current minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, be summoned to testify before Parliament’s Institutions and Transparency Committee.

Specifically, the ND Parliamentary Group submitted a request to the President of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and the President of the Committee on Institutions and Transparency, Athanassios Bouras, asking that the above committee be convened “so that former ministers Michalis Chrysochoidis, Christos Spirtzis, Kostas Karamanlis and current minister Giorgos Gerapetritis can inform the members of the Committee on the progress and the development of projects in contract 717 for [train] telemanagement-signaling.
