Pierre Moscovici sees significant progress in negotiations on primary residence protection




European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici said that significant progress has been made in the negotiations between the institutions and the governement on the law on primary residence protection to succeed the Katseli law adding that an agreement will have been signed before the Eurogroup on April 5.

  • Following the decision of the Eurogroup last week, the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the European Stability Mechanism are in close contact with the Greek authorities to complete the reforms agreed in 2018, Moscovici said noting that the focus of the talks is the legislation to protect the primary residence.

Achieving a balanced agreement on this bill is key to both the citizens and the banking system in Greece, he pointed out and concluded: “We have made significant progress and I am sure we will be able to conclude our talks in the coming days, in view of the Eurogroup on 5 April.”
