German ambassador to Greece Jens Ploetner called baseless the “speculations on whatever exchange between Greece and Germany” on the FYROM issue, the refugees and the economy, in his interview with the Sunday edition of Kathimerini newspaper.

He characterised these speculations “totally repulsive”.

Ploetner called “significant achievement EU leaders’ agreement on the migration and estimated that Thursday’s agreement showed that we are moving forward. “What pleases me” he said “is that Greece and Germany stood side by side on this issue”.

Asked on the Eurogroup agreement, the German envoy called it “good for Greece and for Europe” and shows that the European solidarity works.

He also underlined that the agreement strengthens the ‘investors’ trust’, pointing out however, that “the Greek will be able to reap the fruits of their huge efforts only if the country remains on the reforms track”.
