Migration and Asylum Minister Dimitris Kairidis referred to legal routes of migration and the government’s basic positions on the migration issue, while speaking at the 9th Delphi Economic Forum on Friday.

“We support legal and sustainable migration according to laws and rules, depending on the needs of the Greek economy. We do not believe in open borders, we are trying to follow the middle road that corresponds with the needs and concerns of the citizens that are either xenophobic or naive,” Kairidis said.

He also spoke of the Greek government’s strategy for legal migration, whose first step was an initiative launched a few days before Christmas 2023 for the legal access of migrants to the labour market.
