Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance again attacked the government on Sunday over a leak of the personal e-mails of Greek voters abroad, while raising questions over the use of the state aircraft for the prime minister’s “recreational visit to the Siwa Oasis” in Egypt.

In an announcement, the main opposition party called the leaks “a scandal” and a “criminal offence” that was deeply damaging for the government, in response to which it was attempting to “artificially keep alive” the issue of the business activities of SYRIZA-PA leader Stefanos Kasselakis.

The party noted that Kasselakis had given very clear answers concerning his property assets during recent interviews broadcast by Mega television and an ANT1 breakfast television programme.

“We hope that while [Prime Minister Kyriakos] Mitsotakis and his family were on the recreational trip to the Siwa Oasis using the prime ministerial aircraft, he will have come up with the answers he must give regarding the scandal with the e-mails that were given by the interior ministry to New Democracy for electoral reasons. We call on him to also hand over all the evidence from the ‘investigation’ conducted by the Maximos Mansion on the issue to the political parties, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and the public prosecutor who ordered a preliminary investigation into the violation of private information,” SYRIZA-PA said.

The party also raised questions about the cost of the flight to Siwa for Greek tax-payers and who was on the state aircraft during its flight from Elefsina to the Siwa Oasis.
