Download the registration manual for foreign electoral rolls.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Voters who have lived in Greece for two years in the last 35 years and have submitted a tax return E1 or E2 or E3 or E9 either in the current or the previous tax year have the right to be registered in the electoral rolls.

For Greek men and women studying abroad, the submission of a tax return is not required if the elector has not reached the age of 30 and has submitted a first degree relative’s tax return in the current or previous tax year.

CERTIFICATES FOR PERIOD ACCOMMODATION

A) Certificate of attendance from a primary, secondary, post-secondary, technical or vocational school or from a higher education institution.

B) Certificate of payment of national insurance contributions (stamps).

C) Certificate of completion of military service for as long as it lasts.

useful information

From the moment our application is approved, we are registered in the special electoral rolls abroad and at the same time we are removed from the electoral roll of the Greek electoral district in which we voted until now.

In case we want to suspend voting from abroad or cancel the application, we can do so up to 3 days before the announcement of elections.

The updating of the foreign electoral rolls will take place every 8 years.

Electors in overseas divisions vote a regional ballot, without putting a preference cross.

In order to register in the foreign electoral rolls, one does not need to be registered with the DOU of foreign residents, they can vote from abroad even if they are in a country for a business trip!

Those registered in the electoral rolls will only be able to vote in person on election day at polling stations set up in embassies, consulates, places of expatriate organizations or other appropriate places.

ATTENTION: Your application may have limited polling city options (eg London for UK residents) but after the election is announced there may be more polling stations!

The minimum number to constitute a polling station is to have at least forty (40) registered voters. So we recommend you to register even if you live far from the embassy!
