Conditions exist for Prespes Agreement to pass by wide margin, Tzanakopoulos says

“The political prerequisites are there for a broad parliamentary majority, in the highly likely case that proceedings to amend the constitution in FYROM are successful and the Prespes Agreement comes to the Greek Parliament for ratification,” government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Tuesday in an interview with Real FM.

Commenting on Potami party’s stance, he said that from the very first moment, it had maintained a clear and sincere stance of support for the agreement. The leader of Potami has stressed that “he will not sacrifice the principles, values, but also the interest of the country on the altar of political expediency… I consider that the Potami party continues to have this stance even today.”

According to Tzanakopoulos, anyone reading the Prespes Agreement and the content of the constitutional amendments in the neighbouring country “will understand, beyond any doubt, that no room is left, certainly not legally but also politically, for irredentism in our neighboring country.”
