“The Polytechnic uprising is a symbol of the struggle for Democracy. It does not have ‘owners’ and is blemished by bullying,” European Parliament Vice President Dimitris Papadimoulis said in a post on his twitter account on Friday, referring to a group of unknown individuals that earlier on Friday prevented a SYRIZA delegation from laying a wreath at the Polytechnic.
“The Polytechnic uprising was the beginning of the end of the dictatorship that ended with the betrayal of Cyprus by the junta. That’s why the fascists hate it and defame it. The Polytechnic is a symbol of the struggle for Democracy,” concluded Papadimoulis.
