The required majority to ratify the Prespes Agreement in the Greek Parliament will be found, Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas suggested in an interview with 24/7 radio station on Friday, while also replying to questions regarding the foreign ministry’s secret funds.

“Parliamentary audits must be continued and irresponsible discussions on these issues must be avoided,” he said, explaining that SYRIZA has referred in the past to grey zones concerning the secret funds in 2011 and has proposed the extension of audits to other ministries as well.

Pappas stressed that “we are all called upon in politics and journalism to show responsibility” and added: “The prime minister has now taken over the issue and we are moving forward. Our position on the FYROM issue has not changed, Greece is committed to the Prespes Agreement.”

Regarding the stance adopted by Defence Minister Panos Kammenos, he ruled out “political developments” because there was a majority in Parliament and none of the ruling coalition MPs will support any motion of censure that main opposition New Democracy might table.

“The agreement will be ratified. Kammenos’ positions are well known and we are moving forward with this in mind,” he stressed.
