“For the first time in 8 years, a prime minister will present his own plan in Thessaloniki”, Tsipras says

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Saturday that it is the first time in eight years that the premier of the country will speak at the Thessaloniki trade fair, presenting his government’s own program.

Tsipras was speaking to business representatives in Thessaloniki ahead of the upcoming trade fair in the northern Greek city.

The issue is not only that the program presented will be the government’s but also one that includes proposals from businesses and that is why we are meeting, said Tsipras.

In regards to the 83rd Thessaloniki Trade Fair (TIF), the prime ministers said that it marks the moving on of Greece after exiting its bailout as he sent the message that “we can be optimistic without being complacent.”

“For the first time in eight years, some fiscal space is being created and I want to discuss with you regarding its fair distribution,” said the prime minister, saying that the priority is to help the social groups that lifted the heaviest load during the country’s fiscal adjustment.

At the same time, the Greek premier referred to the need for reforms so that the country does not go back to policies that led it to bankruptcy.
