“It is not surprising that the IMF insists on cutting pensions” says Digital policy minister Nikos Pappas

“The IMF’s insistence on cutting pensions, as reported in the media, is not surprising,” Nikos Pappas, Minister of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information posted on Twitter on Thursday.

“It will be a surprise – and a bad one – for those conducting politics by citing necessity due to external coercion when the measure is halted,” he added and concluded:

“Greece and Portugal are in the same post-memorandum situation. Visits by the institutions, discussing and drawing up a report with the views of both sides. Neither imposed measures nor supervision. Portugal refused reductions to wages and pensions, without prompting any crisis.”
