“Tsipras opens the doors of NATO to FYROM, the people will judge him for it” says Mitsotakis

The Greece-FYROM name issue agreement is opening the door of NATO to the neighboring country, “surrendering the strongest negotiation weapon Greece has,” New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis charged on Wednesday, ahead of the NATO Summit in Brussels.

“Three weeks ago in Prespes, Tsipras and Kammenos recognised in Skopje an alleged Macedonian nationality and language. This happened against the people’s total opposition and, may I say, outrage,” the main opposition leader said, referring to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and leader of ANEL, the junior coalition partner, Panos Kammenos. “We gave a battle in parliament to prevent this development, warning about its negative repercussions, expected soon,” he added.

“Today in Brussels they are going to open NATO’s door to the neighbouring country. They are handing over Greece’s strongest negotiation weapon, which was a national policy for the last 27 years,” he said, adding that both men “bear huge responsibilities for the fait accomplis they are creating, and for which they will soon be judged by the Greek people.”
