Foreign film producers show great interest in Greece, says National Media Center chairman

Greece is aiming to attract more audiovisual productions from abroad after having introduced cash rebates for foreign productions shot in the country, said Panos Kouanis, chairman and chief executive of the National Center for Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME).

Cash rebates have already been used in countries like Croatia, where Mama Mia was shot and parts of Game of Thrones.

In an interview with Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM, Kouanis said that it is important that all parts of Greece are promoted via productions drawn to the country and not just some landmarks that are already well known abroad. According to Kouanis, there is significant interest for foreign productions in Greece from countries and companies with some set to start this summer.
