Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adilini on Monday instructed the Thessaloniki First-Instance Court prosecutors’ department to conduct an investigation to find those responsible for a verbal attack on main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance President Stefanos Kasselakis on Sunday night.

Kasselakis was verbally abused by “counterprotestors” with concealed faces, who had earlier sought to disrupt an LGBTQI rally in support of a trans couple that came under attack on Saturday.

They also injured a police officer stationed at the entrance of the Olympion cinema.

Adilini asked the head of the department to supervise the police investigation into the incidents and to keep her informed. She noted that the persons involved created a disturbance outside the Olympion cinema, where the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival was taking place, had verbally assaulted Kasselakis and also physically attacked and injured a police officer at the entrance of the cinema.
