Greece is proud of its Armed Forces officers, their spirit, and the systems that support them to carry out their duties, National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said on Monday, following the Independence Day parade at Syntagma Square.

The military parade took place before President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, political and military officials, and veterans who were standing before Greek parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

Dendias also noted that the support necessary for the Armed Forces comes with the implementation of Agenda 2030, the greatest reform in the history of the Armed Forces since the modern Greek state’s founding. On March 25, besides honoring the start of the Greek War of Independence in 1821, “Greece also honors the hundreds of thousands of fellow-Greeks who sacrificed their lives in these 203 years, in order for our homeland to be free and proud,” the defense minister added.
