Tractors roll into downtown Athens

Farmers drove their tractors into dowontown Athens from the Castle of Boeotia, where they had been gathered since yesterday afternoon, in order to take part in the nationwide rally that will take place on Tuesday afternoon.
They are expected at Omonia square at 5:30 pm and at 6:30 pm they will carry out a motorized march to the Syntagma.
In addition, farmers and breeders from all over the country are coming to Athens in their own vehicles but also by buses. According to the first estimates, there are about 60 buses from Thessaly while the number of farmers participating totals around 5,000.
Farmers from Western Greece and the Peloponnese blockades will meet in Megara, before heading towards the centre of the capital.
According to the producers, the aim of the rally is to highlight the problems faced by the primary sector and to provide solutions to the increased production costs of the last years.
