“Stop playing monopoly with the lives and bank deposits of the Greek people,” stated Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in a message to the opposition parties on Tuesday, talking in Schimatari, Viotia.

Mitsotakis made the comment in response to positions expressed by the leadership of the opposition party MeRA25 about “alternative payment systems” and their implications for the ambitions by main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras to put together a coalition government that will arise in the May 21 elections.

Mitsotakis underlined that ” many times I present my vision for Greece as a house which is currently half-built. We have laid the foundations and have started to build the upper floors but the house is not yet finished. Our common house is Greece and will only be completed if the Greek people give us the opportunity of a second four-year term. The house will be ready at the end of the second four-year term and will be a truly European house, in a prosperous country, with greater social cohesion and better salaries”.

He said that the dilemmas ahead of the elections “are very clear and I hope that we will be able to dicuss them in a civilised and democratic way, as befits our party, in the next four weeks until the elections. The stronger we are on the first Sunday the more certain we will be that the Greek people will trust us to rule the country in the next four years as well.
