Gerapetritis announces members of special committee to investigate Tempi train collision

The members of a special committee that will investigate and identify the systemic problems and dysfunctionalities that led to the tragic rail accident in Tempi were announced on Friday by Minister of State Giorgos Gerapetritis, who has taken over the leadership of the infrastructure and transport ministry after Kostas Karamanlis resigned.

The three-member committee will include Konstantinos Halkias, honorary president of the Legal Council of State, as chairman, and two academics specialising in transport issues, Prof. Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos from Thessaly University and Prof. Vasilios Profyllidis at the Democritus University of Thrace.

The Committee has been instructed to complete its work as quickly as possible and to enlist the assistance of any and all technical personnel, experts or other persons that it considers necessary.
