“We will never experience again the period 2015-2019 in the migration issue… these days are over with the New Democracy’s government,” stated Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi addressing the parliament on Wednesday during the debate on 2023 state budget.
He underlined that Greece is ready to deal with any pressure at its borders.
Referring to the scandal at the European parliament, he referred to the NGO’s role that are funded by an unknown source.
In terms of the legal migration, Mitarachi said that two transnational agreements have been made with Bangladesh and Egypt and the government is also in discussions with other countries. In parallel, the 5-year seasonal work licence has been enshrined and the legal migration has been totally digitised. All those that live legally in the country have ΑΜΚΑ (Social Security Number)
