PM Mitsotakis in Brussels for EU-ASEAN Summits

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is going to Brussels on Wednesday to participate in the EU-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits, as well as that of the European Council.

According to government sources, on the sidelines of the EU-ASEAN Summit, Mitsotakis is expected to have bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Thailand, Prayut Chan o Cha, and the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

In these meetings, issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest and international issues are expected to be discussed, while emphasis is expected to be placed on International Law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Greece supports the deepening of the EU-ASEAN strategic cooperation and the development of a European strategy for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and attaches importance to issues of maritime trade, free navigation and maritime security.

The agenda of the EU-ASEAN Summit, which will be co-chaired by the President of the European Council and the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, who holds the ASEAN Presidency, includes security challenges, trade, green and digital transition, as well as food security.
