Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ general secretary Grigoris Dimitriadis has submitted his resignation on Friday which has been accepted by the prime minister.

Also, the head of Greece’s National Intelligence Service (EYP) Panagiotis Kontoleon also submitted his resignation.

“Grigoris Dimitriadis is at the forefront of the candidacy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the leadership of New Democracy. For 6 years he has carried a very heavy burden and has received very harsh attacks from many sides. It is known that these positions are “electric chairs” for this and the stay in them, for example in the USA, is 1.5 years on average”, state government sources.

According to the sources, “at the same time, they make it clear that the resignation has to do “with the climate of toxicity that has developed around him. It has nothing to do with Predator, which neither he nor the government has anything to do with, as has been categorically stated.”

— The Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (EYP) Panagiotis Kontoleon resigned on Friday after a series of wrong actions in the lawful listening-in purposes. Kontoleon’s resignation was accepted by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

New chief of EYP was appointed the up to date general secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Themistoklis Demiris.

Demiris will inform the parliament’s Institutions and Transparency Committee after the restart of the parliament’s sessions.
