The European Union Cultural Heritage Label is awarded at the archeological site of Nemea. The official award ceremony will take place on June 13 in Brussels, in a special ceremony organized by the European Commission.

“The inclusion of the archeological site of Nemea in the list of the European Cultural Heritage Label of the European Union is an additional recognition of the importance of the Greek cultural heritage for Europe. In a period of deep test for democracy and freedom, the European Union confirms its commitment to the values and elements of Greek culture, which are the foundations of Western culture and the European political system,” Culture Minister Lina Mendoni said.

The European Heritage Label is an official institution that has been operating since 2011 under the auspices of the European Commission. It aims to promote the idea of a common European cultural identity between the states of Europe, based on the historical and cultural elements that contributed to the creation of European culture, as well as the democratic principles and values that govern the European Union itself.
