Three new Athens metro stations to be launched on Tuesday

The Athens metro is turning over three new metro stations to the public on July 7, Urban Rail Transport SA (STASY) announced on Friday.
The new stations will extend the blue line (Line 3) westward by 4 km, and they are named after the suburbs of Aghia Varvara, Koridallos and Nikea. These will raise the number of Athens metro stations on Line 3 to a total of 24.
All three stations are expected to serve some 60,000 passengers daily, a figure expected to rise in 2022 when another 3 stations – Maniatika, Piraeus proper and the Municipal Theatre – are completed in the Piraeus area.
Indicative times for the new stations are as follows: Nikea to Syntagma in 14 minutes, and Nikea to Athens International Airport in 55 minutes.
In addition, the redesigning of bus routes will link several areas of Piraeus with the new metro stations.
