State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis on Wednesday stated that in cases of multi-club ownership in football there will be a 10-point penalty for each team if they continue to share the same ownership.

Speaking to SKAI radio on Wednesday, Gerapetritis clarified that the penalty will be imposed for each game played and that the team could potentially drop to a negative score in the championship and be demoted to a lower division.

Asked if PAOK will change owner, he replied ‘no’ and said that UEFA does not foresee that in cases of multi-club ownership there should be a penalty of demotion to a lower division, as the penalties vary from country to country.

Gerapetritis said that Professional Sports Council expressed an opinion, not a decision, underlining that the competent bodies will make the decisions on the penalties. He also added that, politically, the government intervened and this case was an opportunity for a new start in Greek football.
