The debate on FYROM constitutional revision is expected to start on Wednesday

The debate in the FYROM parliament on the four constitutional amendments required

by the Prespes Agreement is expected to start on Wednesday.

The amendments submitted by the government of FYROM Prime Minister Zoran Zaev concern the change in the country’s name to North Macedonia, the Constitution’s preamble, the section on the country’s interest in its diaspora and on the respect of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of neighbouring countries.

According to the parliament’s rules of procedure, the debate on each of the amendments can take up to three days. However, given the absence of the main opposition VMRO-DPMNE opposition deputies, who are opposed to the Prespes Agreement, the procedure is expected to be completed much faster, possibly even by the end of the week.
