Greece will not accept the theory of ‘grey zones’, says Tzanakopoulos

“According to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ latest information from the Defence Ministry there was no incident of violation of the Greek territory” stated government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos during his briefing to the press on Monday.

“However” de added, “we continue the investigation with seriousness and cool headedness”.
In any case, he underlined “I must say that Mr. Yildirim’s (Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim) statement was extremely provocative and condemnable and Greece will not accept the theory of the ‘grey zones’ or any questioning of its territorial sovereignty.

Greek government’s discussions with the institutions involved in the Greek programme and its conclusion in August 2018 continue smoothly, Tzanakopoulos said on Monday.
“We are leading towards a clean exit without precautionary support line” he said.
On the negotiations with FYROM, the government and the Foreign Minister continue their huge effort to reach a mutually accepted solution, Tzanakopoulos said noting that the Greek government has focused on two main issues. The compound name and the erga omnes, which require the amendment of the neighbouring country’s constitution. “The solution must meet these two conditions in order to be viable and fair”, he concluded.
