Gen. Director of Public Administration Papaspyrou: “We will find all the documents on Novartis”

General Director of Public Administration Maria Papaspyrou said on Wednesday that authorities are searching for documents hidden by employees, in the Novartis drug kickback case under investigation.

In statements to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station “Praktoreio 104.9”, Papaspyrou asserted, “There were employees that hid the documents; do not worry, we will find everything.”

“I was ordered by the anti-corruption prosecutor to undertake a preliminary investigation on medicine pricing,” said Papaspyrou, adding that “the checking was not easy. It was very laborious to collect all this material.”

Papaspyrou said that “the testimonies by themselves can’t be convincing to people. Documentation is necessary.”

She appeared optimistic, saying that “we will figure this out. I believe that in two to three months, unless something extraordinary happens, we will have the first report for the period 2006 to 2011, and after that we will proceed to (investigate) the following years.”

The general director described the Novartis case as “a very difficult case in terms of research and we must be very careful not to make mistakes. I believe we will find all the documents, there is no chance we will not find them.”
