The Greek government on Wednesday tabled in Parliament the 2019 state budget which envisages an economic growth 2.5 pct in 2019 from 2.1 pct this year and a primary surplus of 3.98 pct of GDP this year, up from a budget target for a surplus of 3.5 pct.
“A state budget that includes measures for the social state and the support of middle and low incomes was approved for the first time in eight years,” Administration Restructuring Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou said in an interview on Monday with radio “News 24/7”.
Greece’s state budget primary surplus was 605 million euros higher in the January-July period this year compared with the same period in 2017, the State Budget Office in Parliament said in a report released on Monday.
The Greek state budget showed a primary surplus of 2.087 billion euros in the January-July period, up from a budget target for a surplus of 929 million euros, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday, but down from a primary surplus of 3.024 billion euros in the same period last year.
