Opening of cross-border road in Lemos, proves the importance of the Agreement, Anagnostopoulou says

The opening of the cross-border road in Lemos, Prespes, is the first important step that proves the importance of the historic Prespes Agreement, Alternate Foreign Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou said on Sunday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

  • Anagnostopoulou welcomed North Macedonia Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov’s statement that his country’s language has nothing to do with the Greek Macedonians putting an end to any speculations of intimidation for non-existent problems that supposedly would create a language recognised for decades.

“The opening of the cross-border road in Lemos, Prespes, is the first important step that demonstrates the importance (economic, cultural, environmental) of the historic Prespes Agreement. The opening of this road satisfied the residents of the Prefecture of Florina, while another important road follows in Aridaia, Pella.

However, I would like to underline above all the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, at the signing of the agreement for the opening of the cross-border road. Based on Article 7 of the Prespes Agreement, Dimitrov clarified that the Macedonian language is spoken by the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia and the diaspora and it has nothing to do with any language spoken by the Greek Macedonians,” she said.
