Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou visited the Republic of Korea, where she met with her counterpart, Chung Byung-won, from April 23 to 26.
They discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and contacts between the two nations, the Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
The two deputy ministers exchanged views on international issues, including developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific region.
They also explored avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two countries on the international stage, particularly in light of Greece’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.

During her visit, Papadopoulou toured the demilitarized zone, paid respects to Greek victims of the Korean War at the War Museum of Korea, and held meetings with representatives from academia, think tanks, and Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea.
This marks the first instance of political consultations between deputy foreign ministers and is a reflection of the positive momentum following the visit of Korean Prime Minister Duck-soo Han to Greece in October 2023.
