Πλοία του Πολεμικού Ναυτικού των ΗΠΑ κατέρριψαν 15 εναέρια μη επανδρωμένα οχήματα (UAVs) που είχαν εκτοξευτεί από τους αντάρτες Χούθι της Υεμένης.
Οι καταρρίψεις έγιναν στην περιοχή της Ερυθράς Θάλασσας νωρίς σήμερα τα ξημερώματα, όπως ανακοίνωσε η Κεντρική Στρατιωτική Διοίκηση των ΗΠΑ (CENTCOM).
Οι αμερικανικές ένοπλες δυνάμεις αντέδρασαν σε μία επίθεση μεγάλης κλίμακας στην περιοχή της Ερυθράς Θάλασσας και του Κόλπου του Άντεν που εξαπολύθηκε μεταξύ 04:00 τα ξημερώματα και 06:30 το πρωί από “τους τρομοκράτες Χούθι που υποστηρίζονται από το Ιράν”, όπως ανέφερε η CENTCOM σε μία ανάρτησή της στο Χ.
Τα UAVs αποτελούσαν “μία σοβαρή απειλή και των εμπορικών πλοίων, του Ναυτικού των ΗΠΑ, αλλά και των συμμαχικών πλοίων στην περιοχή”, σύμφωνα με την CENTCOM.
