Firefighters continue to battle flare-ups on the fronts in Evros and Rhodope.

The Fire Department forces were reinforced with 180 additional firefighters. A total of 474 firefighters are operating with 16 teams on foot and 100 vehicles, assisted by 4 aircraft and 2 helicopters.

In Evros the firefighting forces are focusing their efforts on the front located northwest of the Kotronia area, while in Rhodopi the forces are making efforts to stop the front between the Kassitera and Kirkis areas.

During the night, the firefighting forces set up a large operation on the front located northwest of the Kotronia area, creating a line of defence in order to prevent the fire from passing to Dadia.
“We are protecting Dadia,” the Fire Brigade spokesperson, Yiannis Artopios, said in statements to public broadcaster ERT.

Regarding the other fronts, Artopios estimated that the fronts of Boeotia and Attica are almost under control. “There are small outbreaks but the overall picture on all these fronts is much better,” he underlined.
