Firefighters continue efforts to put out fires in Evros and Andros

Firefighters continue their efforts to put out the flires in Evros and Andros.

According to the Fire Department, the main front of the Evros fire is located in the area of Leptokarya, while flare-ups occurred during the night in Dadia. Strong ground firefighting forces, along with volunteer firefighters and forces of the Armed Forces are participating in the operation in Evros, assisted by 4 aircraft and 3 helicopters.
The fire that broke out on Saturday morning, probably due to lightning, on the island of Andros is also ongoing. The Fire Department’s efforts are focused on the front that exists near Vitali. 73 firefighters, 3 teams on foot, 18 vehicles are operating in the area, assisted by 2 aircraft and 2 helicopters.

In Parnitha, according to the Fire Department, there were some flare-ups during the night, mainly on its southwestern side, where 2 helicopters have been operating since early in the morning.

The image of the fire, which broke out at noon on Saturday in an inaccessible area, in Fthiotida, has improved, the Fire Department said, as well as in Boeotia where there were small flare-ups in the Stiri area.
