Parliament on Tuesday unanimously voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of former Attica governor and recently re-elected main opposition SYRIZA MP Rena Dourou, in response to a request from prosecuting authorities.
Dourou is on trial, currently adjourned until her immunity is lifted, for the deadly fire in Mati in 2018, in which 104 people lost their lives.
Dourou, who has repeatedly stated that she wants her immunity to be lifted, is among those accused in connection with the disaster and faces charges of homicide and causing serious bodily harm through negligence, for alleged actions and omissions during her time as Attica’s governor.
