“The country must continue a credible, serious and robust foreign and defence policy,” New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated on Wednesday from the port of the island of Thassos. He expressed his certainty that the voters in the June 25 election will not only reaffirm the choice they made on May 21 but will give ND an even higher percentage.
He spoke of “a foreign policy, which may extend a hand of friendship to Turkiye but at the same time does not give an inch from the defence of the country’s sovereignty and sovereign rights”.

Mitsotakis said that only a strong Greece, with a strong economy and strong Armed Forces, can negotiate with Turkey our one and only geopolitical difference, the delimitation of the maritime zones, namely the Exclusive Economic Zone and the continental shelf in the Aegean and in the Eastern Mediterranean.
On 25 June elections he noted that the dilemmas are clear and SYRIZA’s “Ovidian metamorphosis” will not convince anyone.
