Police said they migrants had been promoted to Greek territory by traffickers, who transferred them by boat from the Turkish side and abandoned them on the islet.

A Hellenic Red Cross unit was present at the rescue and said the migrants were in good health, while Greek authorities provided them immediately with needed clothing, food, and first aid.

According to the legal procedures, migrants entering Greece without travel documents will be transported to the Pre-Departure Holding Center for Foreigners (PROKEKA) in Orestiada, where they will be registered and identified.
