“The debate on the motion of censure against the government tabled by the leader of main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance after the performance he staged on Tuesday is underway.

Among other things, it is an opportunity for taking stock overall and will be, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out, the prelude to a new defeat for Mr. (Alexis) Tsipras,” government spokesperson Yannis Economou said during a press briefing on Thursday.

“It is an opportunity for a full assessment because it enables citizens to make comparisons between the four years of SYRIZA government under Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the four years of New Democracy government under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. A comparison of everything – the economy, employment, the country’s international position, foreign and defence policy, migration and of course, the rule of law,” he said.
