PM Mitsotakis to attend EUMED-9 Summit that is hosted by Spain

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be attending the EUMED-9 Summit that is hosted by Spain in Alicante on Friday.

The Greek premier and participating state leaders will make statements to the press at 21:15 (Athens time).

The EUMED-9 group comprises Spain, Cyprus, France, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Greece, Croatia and Slovenia.

According to sources, three issues are expected to dominate the talks – the Mediterranean in the future of Europe, the Strategic Autonomy of the EU with an emphasis on the energy sector and the economic framework.
At the same time, a Declaration is expected to be adopted, which will focus on the economic and social effects of the war in Ukraine, economic governance, the Mediterranean environment, the Southern neighborhood, peace, security and stability in the Mediterranean and the Conference on the Future of Europe.
