Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias in an interview with TV Action24 on Friday 9 December stated that “tourism receives the credit from the Greek society”.

As he said the extension of the tourist season, the attraction of high quality travellers, the increase in the number of flights as well as of their capacity, the promotion of alternative tourism destinations and the success of the programme “Tourism for All” resulted to high revenues that exceeded the target of last year’s budget by 3 billion euros, strengthened all sectors, from the primary to the SMEs, and consequently supported the economy, the Greek society and the average Greek family.

Kikilias said that this is the result of hard work and specifically of a strategic plan in a year with a lot of adversity. “In 2023 we will be tried again, but, as last year, we are working very hard to have a good season while in parallel we are supporting the winter destinations”.

Finally, on the Christmas holidays, Kikilias said that the occupancies will be very high in the winter-mountainous destinations.
