Passenger traffic in Athens airport approached 2019 levels in October

Passenger traffic in the Athens International Airport soared in October, approaching 2019 levels, and bringing the country’s largest airport back to pre-pandemic levels.

More specifically, passenger traffic totaled 2.29 million in October, down 0.5% compared with October 2019. Domestic traffic surpassed 2019 levels by 4.6%, while international traffic was down 2.6% over the same period.

In the January-October period, passenger traffic totaled 19.5 million, down 12.2% compared with 2019, with domestic traffic down 6.2% and international traffic down 14.9%.
The number of flights was up 0.5% in October compared with October 2019, with domestic flights up 7.2% and international flights down 4.1%. In the 10-month period, the number of flights totaled 184,495, down 6.2% compared with the same period in 2019. Domestic flights were up 1.8% and international flights were down 12%.
