Chalkidiki port authorities are investigating the cause of death of a 64-year-old German tourist who was found dead, with signs of injury to the head and body, in the sea off the coast of Ouranoupolis, Chalkidiki on Monday.

The body has been taken to the Thessaloniki Coroner’s Service for an autopsy.

The Coast Guard was alerted to the death by a person who saw the body of the German in the water and brought it out onto the beach. It was then identified by the victim’s spouse.
