TFTD: Thessaloniki Future Thinking Dialogues to discuss future of cities as innovative ecosystems, June 1-2

The Thessaloniki Future Thinking Dialogues, which will meet both online and with limited physical presence on June 1 and 2, will use the case of the northern city as a jumping point to discuss the cities of the future as innovation ecosystems.

The event is organized by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).

Over 45 speakers from government, academia, investing, and the private sector in general will exchange viewpoints and speak of best practices. Speakers will look at Thessaloniki’s rise through recent US investments as a “dynamic technology and innovation ecosystem”. Speakers in break-off sessions will discuss how “the emerging post-Covid ‘new normal’ brings acceleration of digital transformation and, most importantly, a radically new way of how we live, work and collaborate,” AmCham said.

The example of the northern capital exemplifies the trend in the United States and globally of “a remarkable shift and growth of place-based innovation ecosystems” that underline the importance of networking and collaboration between universities, enterprises, government and society, the organizers said.

Speakers will include, among others, Merin Rajadurai, adviser to the US Department of State’s Office of Science and Technology; US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyattt; and Julie Wagner, president of The Global Institute on Innovation Districts.
