A special plenary session was underway in the Hellenic Parliament on Wednesday to mark the Remembrance Day for the Pontian Greek Genocide.

The Greek parliament honours Pontian Greek Genocide Remembrance Day on May 19 each year and will illuminate the facade of the parliament building tonight with a symbolic logo.

According to a parliament announcement, this action demonstrates the everlasting historic memory and the continued demand for historic restoration for the massacre of the Pontian Greeks.

The Greek parliament officially recognised the genocide of the Pontians by the Τurkish state on 24 February 1994 and unanimously voted to make May 19 the day for commemorating the Pontian Greek genocide.
